The last quarter-final of the NBA 2K18 Celebrity Gaming Tournament saw Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois play Crystal Palace centre-back Mamadou Sakho for a place in the tournament semi-final alongside Arsenal's Rob Holding.

Courtois elected to play as the New Orleans Pelicans while Sakho chose the Toronto Raptors. The stage was then set for an epic showdown.

It was Courtois who stormed out of the blocks fastest taking a 10-2 lead with a couple of fine counterattacks finished with slam dunks. Going into the third quarter a three-pointer from Anthony Davis helped extend the Pelicans' lead to 17-4; it was all looking very comfortable for Courtois.

Sakho scored a couple of baskets to keep things interesting but it was Courtois' Pelicans who ran away with the game. Davis scored again and the game finished 34-11 to the New Orleans Pelicans - victory never looked in doubt for Courtois' side.

Afterwards Courtois talked about the popularity of the NBA amongst his Chelsea teammates: 'At the moment I think I am the biggest NBA fan in our dressing room.

'Last year [Asmir] Begovic and [Kurt] Zouma were both very into the NBA and basketball. I would say that Eden Hazard is also a fan he supports the New York Knicks. I know a few people at the Los Angeles Lakers and at the New York Knicks so I like to follow the players I really know well.'

Sakho then discussed the NBA London Game 2018 between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers and made his own predictions: 'I'm very excited. I think for us and for all the fans this is a great opportunity. Having two spectacular teams like these coming to London is fantastic. I think it will be a tight game. It's hard to predict.'

On who will win the NBA title Sakho added 'I always support LeBron James so I hope the Cleveland Cavaliers will win next year.'

In one of the other quarter-finals Rob Holding described Alexis Sanchez as the 'LeBron James of the Premier League.' However Sakho gives that title to his France team-mate Paul Pogba: 'I think I'd compared my friend Paul Pogba to LeBron James.

'They are two international superstars who transcend their sport and are two of the greatest sportsmen that I know who can entertain the crowd like few others.'
